CNC Machine Enclosure
Ferndale Safety is proud to offer custom-designed enclosures for CNC machines, tailored to enhance both operator safety and machine efficiency.
Our custom CNC machine enclosures are engineered to meet the unique demands of each facility, providing comprehensive protection from hazards associated with CNC machining processes while ensuring seamless workflow integration.
Project Overview: Custom CNC Machine Enclosure
CNC machines, in this case a CNC milling machine are hazardous for a number of reasons. However, one of the main reasons is that it can be considered as a robotic machine; meaning that it can move at any time without operator intervention. Our customer wanted to upgrade this old CNC milling machine with a CNC machine enclosure similar to new machines.
What Are the Risks?
CNC machines, while efficient and precise, come with their own set of risks due to their high-speed operation and automated functions. These risks include:
Flying Debris and Projectiles: CNC machining generates high-speed debris such as metal chips and parts, which can be hazardous to operators if not properly contained.
Coolant Spray: Many CNC processes involve the use of coolants that can splash or spray, posing slip hazards and potential skin irritation.
Entanglement Risks: Operators may be exposed to moving parts, such as spindles or tool changers, leading to the risk of entanglement.
Noise and Vibration: High-speed operations often produce significant noise and vibration, which can affect operator comfort and safety.
